So I bought this pair of high-waisted denim shorts that were jeans that had been hacked at. I bought it off of ebay where the seller had listed these as size 26. When I got them, they were size 29! She ended up refunding me my money AND letting me keep the shorts! But what to do with high waisted shorts that are 3 sizes too big? DIY them til they fit.
DIY High Waist Denim Shorts
What you need:
- A pair of old jeans/shorts from your thrift shop, friend, mom, etc.
- E6000 glue
- needle, thread, iron
1. Flip up and iron out your hem.
2. Cut out the closure and glue it a few inches outward to tighten the waist. I know - this is super ghetto. But I don't have any tools for taking out the closure and re-stitching. These shorts were free anyways!
3. Your belt loops will now be unaligned and lopsided after your tighten the waist. Detach the belt loops and re-sew so they are properly verticalized (is that even a word?) and even.
And done! This was a simple fix performed on a pair of otherwise useless shorts. Don't try this on your favorite pair of vintage shorts. You can also go ahead and add studs, throw some bleach or white paint on it, etc. I've been wearing these with my new wedge sneakers and love the simple look ;)
